Welcome Back!!

This is an excellent opportunity for students to get an introduction to basic concepts for
acquiring digital images and the process of manipulation of the images through the use
of Adobe Photoshop software.
The first semester will focus on basic photography skills. Students will learn techniques,
terminology, and equipment associated with photography. They must first learn how and
what makes a good photograph, before altering it in another program. Towards the end of the
semester, students will begin to experiment with the variety of options that are available to
enhance their photos using Photoshop.
During the second semester, students will start to develop their style of photography.
They will have hands on learning with Photoshop to make selections, crop images, use
paint, editing tools, filters, layer styles, adjustments, and effects. We will also be working
with lighting techniques. Students will produce a portfolio of digital photographic work.
Students will problem solving to develop artworks. Students will critique their
own artwork based on the elements of art and principles of design.
